Is your water heater in need of repair or replacement?

Here are warning signs to look out for:

-
Hot water runs out more quickly than normal.

-
The water stream switches between hot and cold, and back.

-
There's a popping/crackling sound, or odd/burnt smells when the water heater is heating.

-
There are rusty spots, calcium deposits, or corroded fittings or piping, which can be identified by visual inspections. Pay special attention to pipe connections as these can be an indicator of an issue that could present sooner than later.

Water heaters that display signs of poor fittings or corroded conditions should be looked at by a professional.
If left untreated, leaks or floods can occur.

How can you keep your water heater running smoothly?

In the PNW, there's no need to drain your water heater unless you're on a well or have very hard water.

If you're interested in improving your water heater's safety and performance without installing a new one, look into installing a mixing valve.
