If a landscaper tells you how easy it is to add underground irrigation lines to your property, you may not realize the project likely involves changes to your main water line, which is something only a licensed plumber should work on. 

We fix costly mistakes on main water lines all the time. Here’s an example from one of our recent jobsites where an unlicensed contractor replaced part of the homeowner’s main water line with PVC—a material that should never be used in this application. It was also missing a backflow prevention device, which can lead to contamination in your drinking water and pressure changes that can damage the plumbing and appliances in your home.

This customer unfortunately paid once for the work to be done incorrectly, and then also paid us to fix it. Hot tip: Always make sure your contractors are licensed and bonded, especially if they're trying to convince you to take shortcuts. 

You can save money and a lot of headache by having the work done right the first time. So if anyone tries to convince you that hiring a plumber to work on your main water line is too expensive, please consider the risks, additional repair costs, and potential damage to your home and property.
